John C. Dean, Chairman

Mr. John Dean is Managing General Partner of Startup Capital Ventures, an early stage venture fund which he co-founded with Danny Lui in 2005. Mr. Dean is also an advisory director for various venture capital firms both in the US and overseas, including Advanced Technology Ventures (ATV), Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), Walden International and Authosis Capital.

In 1997 Business Week recognized Mr. Dean as of the Silicon Valley's top 25 "movers and shakers" and, in 2001, Forbes ranked him as one of the "50 most powerful dealmakers."

Mr. Dean has 20 years of CEO experience in financial services, most recently, from 1993 to 2001, as the CEO of Silicon Valley Bank, a leading provider of financial services to early stage technology companies and to venture capital firms.

Mr. Dean has an undergraduate degree from Holy Cross College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
