Osamu Nagao is General Manager, Principal Investment Division of Mitsui & Co., Ltd. ("Mitsui"), an international trading and investment company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan (www.mitsui.co.jp). He joined Mitsui in 1982, and started his career in its Legal Department. He worked in Mitsui's Tokyo and New York offices as in-house counsel, and after contributing to the success of a number of investment and M&A projects in Japan, China and the America, he transferred to the Corporate Development Division, where his responsibilities included Mitsui's private equity and principal investment initiatives. Mr. Nagao initiated and implemented Mitsui's equity participation in Quintiles Japan, a leading outsourcing company for the pharmaceutical industry, and was seconded to Quintiles Japan as SVP, Corporate Development, until he assumed the role of President & CEO of MVC Corporation, Mitsui's venture capital arm (a.k.a. Mitsui Ventures) in September 2005. During his four-year-plus tenure as the head of Mitsui Ventures, Mr. Nagao expanded its operations globally, and particularly in China.
