Joe Golden

CBC Capital, General Partner

Joe Golden has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and networking industry in both operations and investments.  Joe is a General Partner of China Broadband Capital and founder of their U.S.office.  With his extensive Silicon Valley, European and Asian experience he brings to CBC a unique technical and commercial understanding of the global networking space and international technology transfer and growth.

Prior to joining CBC-Capital, Joe was a General Partner and Co-Founder of Accel Partners, London.  Accel is an early-stage Venture Capital firm focused on Communications and Enterprise Software with over $4B of capital under management.  At Accel, Joe served on 16 boards including P-Cube, Kagoor, Icera, Gigle, Ubidyne and SolarFlare.  Prior to Accel, Joe was a Vice President at Cisco and the head of Cisco’s investment and acquisition team in EMEA based in London and reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer.  During Joe’s tenure in this position, Cisco invested over $5 billion in EMEA in strategic acquisitions and technology start-ups. Joe was also active on multiple international boards, including Italtel S.p.A. and Riversoft PLC.

Before joining Cisco, Joe was involved in multiple start-ups and turn-arounds including Ardent Communications (acquired by Cisco in 1997), Timeplex (acquired by Ascom Switzerland), Raynet G.m.b.H.(a RayChem company), ROLM (a Siemens company), and Silicon Systems (part of the Texas Instruments Storage Products Group).

Joe has lived and worked in France, Germany, Switzerland and the U.K., and spent part of his childhood in Germany.  Having lived in Europe for over 18 years, he speaks English, German and French.  He is presently learning Chinese.

Joe is married and has four children with ages 6 to 12.

Joe received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1980 and an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1988.
