Ralph Jaeger
Cambridge Associates, Senior Research Consultant
Based in Cambridge Associates' Boston headquarters, Ralph is a senior research consultant in the firm’s non-marketable alternative asset group. He is responsible for conducting due diligence on international buyout and venture capital funds and identifying high-quality investment firms. Ralph also sits on the U.S. private equity research committee. He serves as a resource for the firm’s investment consultants and analyzes general trends and developments in international private markets. In his capacity as senior research consultant, Ralph is also responsible for Cambridge Associates’ coverage of the broader Asian region. He recently co-authored Cambridge Associates' research paper on "Private Equity Investing in China".
Before Ralph joined Cambridge Associates in early 2008, he worked at von Braun and Schreiber in Munich, Germany, a globally focused niche Fund of Funds. Before that, Ralph worked as an investment director at PAI Partners in Paris, where he evaluated European investment opportunities in the large-cap buyout segment. Prior to that, Ralph spent four years as an investment manager with JPMorgan Partners in New York, London, and Munich, focusing on mid-market buyout opportunities in the services and industrial segments. He began his career in direct private equity with Industri Kapital sending over 2 years in Hamburg, Germany.
During his direct private equity career, Ralph was involved in investments totaling over $170 million of capital, which ultimately generated a fully realized return of above 2.0x. He served on the boards of Siteco, CasaReha, and SchoellerWavinSystems.
His Asian exposure comprises of high level macro research work, direct operational experience in the context of former portfolio companies, and ongoing monitoring of market developments as well as regular in-depth manager reviews.
Ralph received a BA degree with honors in European Business Administration from Middlesex University, and he graduated from the European School of Business (Reutlingen) as a Dipl. Betriebswirt. He was also awarded a 1-year ECTS scholarship at the University of Barcelona.
Ralph holds dual German and French citizenship, as well as US residency status. He is fluent in English, French, German, Spanish and Turkish
